Answer:

A. Isolation from the world.

Explanation:

Mary Shelly's <em>Frankenstein</em> tells the life journey of a young scientist Victor Frankenstein in his zeal to create life out of the bounds of a normal scientific ability. In his act of bringing a life out of the parts of a human body, Frankenstein let loose a monstrous creature who would give his all to destroy his creator who abandoned him.

The given excerpt is from the third chapter of the novel where Victor went to Ingolstadt where he was to pursue further scientific knowledge. In the earlier passages of Chapter 3, we find the narrator/ Victor talking about the death of his mother, and the many company he had from his brothers and father, including Elizabeth and his dear friend Clerval. But in Ingolstadt, he would have to <em>"form my own friends and be my own protector"</em>, away from the usual <em>"secluded and domestic"</em> life he was accustomed to. Thus, this passage deals with the theme of being isolated from the world that he was used to, and needing to make do with new friends.

Answer:

C. Irini plucked plump berries as thorns cut her pink stained fingers.

Explanation:

While the other sentences portray decent detail, they mostly just cut to the point of the story, without giving you any real visualization. Sentence C uses the most use of adjectives, which can really help you to use your senses, and see what going on, even as you aren't really there.

Answer:

Explanation:

I'm not sure what exactly you've learned but here's a potential hook:

In today's society, pressure is placed heavily on social media and how one looks or acts on it. Some users may believe that since no aspect of apps like Instagram or Twitter is necessarily face-to-face, no real harm can come of any mistakes made on these platforms. However, the dedication that so many people, young and old alike, place in these apps makes it very nearly impossible for any measure of one's self worth to be independent from the popularity they receive. It isn't the user's fault, these apps are designed to show us exactly what we want to see even if it lowers our self esteem in the process. On that note, bullying over social media has just as great an impact, if not a larger one, than bullying in school or elsewhere. So yes, the things that are posted by yourself on social media should always be treated as seriously as the things you say in everyday life.

This is very wordy and I actually think if you were to shorten parts of it and distribute them to other parts of the essay you may do better!

How can one topic in a text be the foundation for several themes?
Dimas [21]

Answer:

“Theme is the central message of a literary work. It is not the same as a subject, which can be expressed in a word or two: courage, survival, war, pride, etc. The theme is the idea the author wishes to convey about that subject. It is expressed as a sentence or general statement about life or human nature. A literary work can have more than one theme, and most themes are not directly stated but are implied. The reader must think about all the elements of the work and use them to make inferences, or reasonable guesses, as to which themes seem to be implied.

Explanation:

For example, if love is a topic/subject of two novels, a major theme in one of the novels could be “Love, if taken to extremes, can be negative rather than positive,” while in the other novel, the theme might be “Love can conquer even the greatest evil.” Notice that the topic/subject is the same, but the messages about that topic/subject are different in different works.
