Answer:

Vietnamese boat people (Vietnamese: Thuyền nhân Việt Nam), also known simply as boat people, refers to the refugees who fled Vietnam by boat and ship following the end of the Vietnam War in 1975. This migration and humanitarian crisis was at its highest in 1978 and 1979, but continued through the early 1990s. The term is also often used generically to refer to the Vietnamese people who left their country in mass exodus between 1975 and 1995 (see Indochina refugee crisis). This article uses the term "boat people" to apply only to those who fled Vietnam by sea.

The number of boat people leaving Vietnam and arriving safely in another country totalled almost 800,000 between 1975 and 1995. Many of the refugees failed to survive the passage, facing danger from pirates, over-crowded boats, and storms. According to the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, between 200,000 and 400,000 boat people died at sea.[1] The boat people's first destinations were the Southeast Asian locations of Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. External tensions stemming from Vietnam's dispute with Cambodia and China in 1978 and 1979 caused an exodus of the majority of the Hoa people from Vietnam, many of whom fled by boat to China.[2][3]

The combination of economic sanctions, the legacy of destruction left by the Vietnam War, policies of the Vietnamese government, and further conflicts with neighboring countries caused an international humanitarian crisis, with Southeast Asian countries increasingly unwilling to accept more boat people on their shores. After negotiations and an international conference in 1979, Vietnam agreed to limit the flow of people leaving the country. The Southeast Asian countries agreed to admit the boat people temporarily, and the rest of the world, especially more developed countries, agreed to assume most of the costs of caring for the boat people and to resettle them in their countries.

From refugee camps in Southeast Asia, the great majority of boat people were resettled in more developed countries. Significant numbers resettled in the United States, Canada, Italy, Australia, France, West Germany, and the United Kingdom. Several tens of thousands were repatriated to Vietnam, either voluntarily or involuntarily. Programs and facilities to carry out resettlement included the Orderly Departure Program, the Philippine Refugee Processing Center, and the Comprehensive Plan of Action.

Write an article of 140–190 words for your school's website.
bekas [8.4K]

Answer: When you meet the one person that you know for a fact that you'll love as a buddy for the longest while, you can't exactly remember how you lived with your memories without them. My best friend is a huge part of my life, even if we can't see each other because of the pandemic. We're always here for each other no matter what. We don't care about how we look on the outside, we only care for the inside. As you grow up you have to make a choice for that best friend. You either keep them in your life and always be there for them like the old times, or you begin to lose interest and leave yourself with all the memories you had with them when you were younger. Most best friends are like siblings to you, they go through everything with you, they help you stay strong, they support you, they love you. There are so many changes best friends can bring to your life, either big or small. Either way, that change is always a good change that was worth it.

Write your personal reaction to this event. you have to sing all alone for the p.t.a. program.
GarryVolchara [31]

You can write a personal reaction of excitement for having the chance to show your singing skills or anxiety for having to do it all alone, as explained below.

Writing a personal reaction

To write a personal reaction, you must imagine how you would feel and what you would say if you were in that specific situation. Let's work with two possibilities. First, let's write an example of a reaction of excitement for having the chance to show off your singing skills:

 • "Really?! I get to sing by myself? Oh, that's awesome! I've been waiting for this opportunity since I started taking singing lessons!"

Now, let's write a brief example of anxiety for having to do the singing all alone:

"Wait, I'm supposed to be sing by myself? Oh, I'm not sure that is a good idea. I mean, I tend to get nervous when people pay attention to me. Are you sure we can't have other students do it with me?"
