6. Declaration of Independence on the 4th of July, 1776.

7. The US Constitution was established on the 4th of March, 1789.

8.  George Washington becomes first US President on the 30th of April, 1789.

9. Louisiana Purchase in 1803.

Then the Merrimack went after the USS Minnesota, damaging the ship and forcing it to ground. After hours of fighting, the Merrimack returned to Norfolk for the night.
