Peru after the War of the Pacific with Chile deeply devastated the country. In the early 1900’s, Peru went to war with Ecuador which helped it regain land. In the 1970’s Peru witch was under a dictatorship prepared to invaded Chile but Chile gave land back.

Basically these countries were under military coups and dictatorships in the 1900s
