"The flight of Icarus" Which statement describes a theme of the selection?

English

A theme found in "The Flight of Icarus" is that people must obey their elders.

We can arrive at this answer because:

  • "The flight of Icarus" shows the moment when Icarus and his father escaped from the minotaur's labyrinth using waxwings.
  • Although Icarus' father warned him not to fly close to the sun, Icarus was curious and decided to disobey his father and fly close to the sun.
  • This caused his wings to melt and he fell into the sea, drowning.

Icarus was young and immature, he had no knowledge of things and so he needed to listen and obey his father, as he was older and wiser.

This reinforces the theme that people must obey their elders.

Can evidence be relevant but not sufficient? Explain your answer.
Cloud [144]

Relevance is ordinarily a necessary condition, but not a sufficient condition, for the admissibility of evidence. For example, relevant evidence may be excluded if its tendency to prove or disprove a fact is heavily outweighed by the possibility that the evidence will prejudice or confuse the jury.
