Both cardiac and smooth muscle are involuntary while skeletal muscle is voluntary. Smooth muscle, also called involuntary muscle, muscle that shows no cross stripes under microscopic magnification. It consists of narrow spindle-shaped cells with a single, centrally located nucleus.
