The radius of a cylindrical gift box is (3x+4) inches. The height of the gift box is three times the radius. What is the surface
liq [111]

The required equation of the surface area of the cylinder is (60\pi x^2+192\pi x+128\pi)

<u>Solution:</u>

Let "r" be the radius of cylinder and "h" be the height.

Formula for surface area is:

S= 2r^2\pi + 2r\pi h

where 2r^2\pi is surface of two bases of cylinder and 2r\pi h is surface of mantle.

From the given, the height of the gift box is three times the radius, i.e h=3r=3\times(3x+4)\rightarrow h=9x+12

On substituting the given values in the formula we get,

S = 2\times\pi[(3x+4)^2 + (9x+12)\times(3x+4)]

\Rightarrow S=2\pi[(3x^2)+2\times3x\times4+4^2]+[(9x\times3x)+12\times3x+36x+48]

\Rightarrow S=2\pi[9x^2+24x+16]+[21x^2+36x+36x+48]

\Rightarrow S=2\pi[9x^2+24x+16+21x^2+72x+48]\rightarrow2\pi[30x^2+96x+64]

On multiplying 2\pi inside the brackets we get,

\Rightarrow S=[60\pi x^2+192\pi x+128\pi]

Hence, the required equation is (60\pi x^2+192\pi x+128\pi)

Herman is building a picnic table for a campground.The picnic table is 5feet 10inches long.Herman built the picnic table in 2 da
Shtirlitz [24]
The question gives you unneeded information to confuse you: the length of the table. Just ignore that for this question.

To figure out how long he worked, add the time he spent each day on the table.
He spent 3 hours and 45 minutes the first day and 2 hours and 10 minutes the second day

3 hours + 2 hours = 5 hours
45 minutes + 10 minutes = 55 minutes

Herman spent 5 hours and 55 minutes to build the table.

Give the boundaries of the indicated value.<br> 8.64 miles
makkiz [27]

Answer:

  8.635 ≤ x < 8.645

Step-by-step explanation:

When a measurement is expressed to a certain precision, it can be because it was rounded to that precision. Rounding up occurs from values that are equal to or greater than 5 in the place to the right of the right-most digit.

That is, the smallest value that will round up to 8.64 is 8.635.

Rounding down occurs from values that are less than 5 in that same number place. Any value less than 8.645 will round down to 8.64.

The boundaries of values that round to 8.64 are ...

  8.635 ≤ x < 8.645
