Taking into account the Scientific notation, 2.36×10⁻²÷ 8.4×10² results 2.8×10⁻⁵.

Scientific notation

The scientific notation is a quick way to represent a number using powers of base 10. This notation is used to be able to express very large or very small numbers very easily.

The numbers are written as a product:

a×10ⁿ

where:

  • a is a real number greater than or equal to 1 and less than 10, to which a decimal point is added after the first digit if it is a non-integer number.
  • n = a whole number, which is called an exponent or an order of magnitude. Represents the number of times the point decimal is shifted. It is always an integer, positive if it is shifted to the left, negative if it is shifted to the right.

To divide numbers in scientific notation, you must first divide the numbers that are not powers of 10, that is, the numbers a. And then you divide the powers of ten by subtracting the exponents.

This case

In this case, you have to divide 2.36×10⁻²÷ 8.4×10².

So, first of all, dividing 2.36 and 8.4 you get:

2.36÷ 8.4= 0.28

And subtracting the powers of both scientific numbers we get:

(-2) - (2)= -4

So, the scientific number obtained is:

0.28×10⁻⁴

Now convert 0.28 to scientific notation by moving the decimal point one place to the right and multiplying by 10⁻¹, which groups to the power of 10⁻⁴ using the Associative Property of Multiplication. This is:

2.8×10⁻¹×10⁻⁴

To multiply the powers of 10 you must add the exponents:

2.8×10⁻¹⁺⁽⁻⁴⁾=  2.8×10⁻¹⁻⁴= 2.8×10⁻⁵

Finally, 2.36×10⁻²÷ 8.4×10² results 2.8×10⁻⁵.

Which of the following is a strong reducing agent? Explain how you know.
swat32
The answer is: The principal idea here is how r they obtained:
for example: sodium u put equal molar concentrations of sodium (Na) and sodium ion (Na+) together in a beaker , then dip in this solution a platinium wire (zero potential) which is connected to a normal hydrogen electrode (electrode with zero potential) then u see the reading of the whole circuit
if it is negtive, this means negative potential which means that the reducing property predominates where Na(reducing agent) is oxidized and electrons r accumulated on the platinum which gives it negative charge
This means that (Na) is a reducing agent, its strength depends on the value of the potential obtained, and here the table can help you
If u want to know if it's strong red. agent, look for it in the table, see if it has higher reduction potentail (or lower oxidation potential, same idea) than most other substances then it is reducing agent
and vice versa

So if we look at ur examples, u will find that MnO4- is the very strong oxidizing agent (has highest oxidation potential) (lowest reduction potential)

H+ and H2 are both with zero potential, no redox properties

And lastly Na and Na+:
This u can know from ur knowledge in chemistry, that sodium is very rarely found in elemental form and always in the form of ion so u can deduce that Na is the very strong reducing agent
or u can see the value of its standard oxi or red potetial and deduce which is the predominating form of them.

I hope this helps

You fill a balloon with helium gas to a volume of 2.68L at 23°C and 789mmHg. Then you release the balloon and it rises. What wil
wlad13 [49]

Answer : The final volume of balloon will be, 3.35 L

Explanation :

Boyle's Law : It is defined as the pressure of the gas is inversely proportional to the volume of the gas at constant temperature and number of moles.

P\propto \frac{1}{V}

or,

P_1V_1=P_2V_2

where,

P_1 = initial pressure = 789 mmHg

P_2 = final pressure = 632 mmHg

V_1 = initial volume = 2.68 L

V_2 = final volume = ?

Now put all the given values in the above equation, we get:

789mmHg\times 2.68L=632mmHg\times V_2

V_2=3.35L

Therefore, the final volume of balloon will be, 3.35 L

In peas, yellow pods are dominant to green pods. A homozygous recessive pea plant crosses with a heterozygous pea plant. Use the
Lorico [155]

Answer:

  • 50% of the offspring will have green pods.

Explanation:

Use a upper case to identify the dominant allele and lower case to identify recessive allele.

A homozygous pea plant would be YY or gg. The homozygous recessive pea pleant would be gg (YY is dominant).

A heterozygous pea plant would be Yg (or gY which is the same).

The Punnett Square for the cross between a homozygous recessive pea plant (gg) and a heterozygous pea plant (Yg) would be:

                 g        g

       Y      Yg      Yg

       g      gg      gg

Hence, the offspring will have two Yg, which would be yellow pods, and two gg which would be green pods.

That is, 50% of the offspring will have yellow pods and 50% will have green pods.
