10.2 inches/24 hours = 0.425 in/hr notice I changed the fraction to a decimal 1/5 = 0.2

Another method could be to set it up as a proportion, then

10.2 inches = x inches the answer comes out the same of course

5y=2x<br> Can someone explain the steps to solving this
Elena-2011 [213]

Answer:

You can't solve this with only this much info.

Step-by-step explanation:

There are 2 varibles y and x. You have to at least have 2 different equations with only variables y and x or know the value of one. Of course you could guess but then there would be multiple answers. like y=1, x=2.5, etc.

What is the answer of 2.365*12.4?
gulaghasi [49]
2.365 * 12. 4 = 29.3260

In mulitplying decimals. Multiply numbers as regular numbers. Ignore the decimals.

From 2.365 * 12.4  make it 2365 *124 = 293260
Then count the total number of decimals of both numbers to put it in the answer.

2.365 has 3 decimals while 12.4 has 1 decimal = 4 decimal places.

Count the decimal places from right to left, arriving to the answer 29.3260

Masja [62]
The value of t that makes the factor e^(.032t) have the value of 2 can be found using logarithms.
  2 = e^(0.032t)
  ln(2) = ln(e^(0.032t)) = 0.032t
  t = ln(2)/0.032 ≈ 21.66

It would take 21.66 years for the cost to double.
