The Fish and the Crocodile

Once Upon a Time there was a river that was clearer than a crystal, and a waterfall so clear it out shined the sun. Beside the river there was an orange tree, it looked perfect and the fruit was always ripe and perfectly round. Everyone was always happy and cheerful. One day a crocodile laid under the beautiful orange tree like he did every day. He was called Rabbi everyone loved him, and him seeing other people happy made him happy. But that was no ordinary day, there was a new fish in town. His name was Menace. The only animal that noticed he was new was Rabbi the crocodile. So, he went to him quickly to greet him. “Hello there Mr. fish my name is Rabbi what’s yours” says Rabbi.” Do not call me Mr. fish” Menace said in a loud voice. “I’m Menace but I have no intension of talking to anyone along with being anyone’s friend.” Says Menace. “OK but will you join us and play for a little bit since you are a new comer.” Says Rabbi. “No! I do not want to play, if you could not hear I said I did not want to talk or be your friend. I want to be left alone.” replied Menace. “Why are you so grumpy.” Says Rabbi. “None of your business.” Said Menace. “But remember this, I will make everyone’s life in this town miserable just like mine.” Says Menace. Menace swam away in a flash. Rabbi decided to hold a secret meeting with all the towns animals except for Menace he did not know about this. So, in this meeting Rabbi informed everyone that Menace was upset and planning to make everyone miserable like him.” We have to find a way to make him happy.” Said Rabbi. One of the towns animals named shoji said, “we should throw him a party.” Everyone agreed so in the morning they decided throw Menace a party. When dawn came around and Menace came out the town surprised Menace but he did not like the surprise or the party. “What are you guys doing!” Menace yelled. Everyone was called back to the secret meeting. Another Animal of the town called Alfred said, “you should bring Menace some presents.” “Great idea.” Said Rabbi. So, the next day all the animals in the town came over to Menace’s house and gave him the presents. Menace refused the presents and said, “do you not care what I think!” Snapped Menace. “Get off my lawn and never come back. You animals are all unwelcomed guest.” Said Menace. Everyone ran, but once again Rabbi was determined to help save Menace and Help the towns animals so, he held another meeting. Most of the towns animals gave up so this time only a quarter of the town attended the meeting. Again, Rabbi asked if anyone had ideas to cheer up Menace and one town animal named George answered “well why don’t you try to talk to him. Rabbi agreed. So, the next day Rabbi went over to Menace’s house once more. He knocked and said “open up Menace It’s Rabbi. Menace took his sweet little time to swim to the door. “What do you want now?” Asked Menace with a sharp tone. “I just wanted to make you happy because you always seem unhappy and angry.” Said Rabbi. Menace answered “well if you must know I am unhappy and angry most of the time because I had a friend who betrayed me and I did not want to be betrayed again. I did not know who to trust.” “Oh, I see but sometimes you have to leave the past in the past and move forward not backwards.” Said Rabbi. “Thank you for talking with me I think you will be a very loyal friend” Said Menace. A big smile appeared on Rabbi’s face and he said, “thank you for the compliment, I never heard anyone say that to me.” “My pleasure that’s what friends are for right? Said Menace. “I’ll promise to be nice from now on and make friends with everyone in the town” Added Menace “ok “Said Rabbi. From then on Menace was always nice and made friends with all the animals in town.
