The values for x are -5 and 20

Given to us:

x^2-15x-100=0

In order to use the zero product property, we need to find out a 2 numbers whose product is -100 and sum is -15.

for that you can take the LCM of 100 and check all factors of 100.

for example,

factors of 100 are 100, 50, 25, 20, 10, 5, 4, 2, 1.

from this -20 and +5 are the numbers whose sum will give -15 and product will be -100. therefore,

x^2-15x-100=0\\x^2-20x+5x-100=0

taking out common terms, we get

(x^2-20x)+(5x-100)=0\\x(x-20)+5(x-20)=0\\(x+5)(x-20)=0\\

to find out the value of x equating both the factors with 0, we get

(x+5)=0\\x=-5\\(x-20)=0\\x=20

Hence, the values for x are -5 and 20

Suppose that distribution of the daily calcium intake of Americans is left skewed with a mean of 800 mg and a standard deviation
babymother [125]

Answer:

Explained below.

Step-by-step explanation:

According to the Central Limit Theorem if an unknown population is selected with mean μ and standard deviation σ and appropriately huge random samples (n > 30) are selected from this population with replacement, then the distribution of the sample means will be approximately normal.

Then, the mean of the sampling distribution of sample means is given by,

\mu_{\bar x}=\mu

And the standard deviation of the sampling distribution of sample means is given by,

\sigma_{\bar x}=\frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}

So, if the sample of daily calcium intake of Americans collected is more than 30, then the sampling distribution of \bar X will be approximately normal.

The lengths of a triangle are 12 and 23 meters find the range of possible lengths for the third side
sergij07 [2.7K]

Answer: 11 < x < 35

suppose: the length of the third side is x

because x is the third side of a triangle

=> 23 - 12 < x < 23 + 12

The Lars family has a moisture farm on the planet Tatooine. They owned 5 acres of land. They sold 2/7 of their land to the Tuske
jeka57 [31]

Answer:

25/7 acres or 3 4/7 acres

Step-by-step explanation:

The sold 2/7 of the land.

1 - 2/7 = 7/7 - 2/7 = 5/7

They have 5/7 of the land left.

5/7 of 5 acres = 5/7 × 5 acres = 25/7 acres = 3 4/7 acres

Complete question :

Put these fraction in order of size smallest to largest : 7/10, 2/3, 4/5, 11/15

Answer:

2/3, 7/10, 11/ 15, 4 /5

Step-by-step explanation:

In other to make solving the question easier, we can convert the fractions to decimal in other to make comparison easier :

7/10 = 0.7

2/3 = 0.667

4 /5 = 0.8

11 /15 = 0.733

Using the placement or how the numbers will appear to the right of a number line ;

0.667, 0.7, 0.733, 0.8

Thus we have :

2/3, 7/10, 11/ 15, 4 /5
