The GREEN house is diagonally opposite the orange-coloured house.

There are six houses in a colony, such that 3 houses are in one row and the other 3 houses are in the opposite row.

Each house is painted with a different colour from red blue, green,

yellow, pink and orange.

1. Houses at the corner are not painted in blue and red colour

2. House painted orange colour is not opposite the house painted in green colour

3. Yellow and pink coloured houses are not in the same row

We need to find which house is diagonally opposite the orange-coloured house

What is probability?

Probability can be defined as the ratio of the number of favourable outcomes to the total number of outcomes of an event. For an experiment having 'n' number of outcomes, the number of favourable outcomes can be denoted by x. The formula to calculate the probability of an event is as follows.

Probability(Event) = Favorable Outcomes/Total Outcomes = x/n

Arrangement is

Row1 1 2 3

Row2 4 5 6

Houses at the corner are not painted blue and red colour

1, 3, 4 & 6 are at the corner hence 2 and 5 has been Blue and Red in colour.

Blue = B , Red = R

Row1 1 B/R 3

Row2 4 R/B 6

House painted with orange colour is not opposite the house painted with green colour

Yellow and pink coloured houses are not in the same row

Also yellow and pink can not be opposite as then orange will be opposite to green

Hence yellow and pink are diagonally opposite

Hence green house is opposite to orange House

Row1 Y/P B/R G/O

Row2 O/G R/B P/Y

or

Row1 O/G B/R P/Y

Row2 Y/P R/B G/O

The GREEN house is diagonally opposite the orange-coloured house.
