6. (a) Interpret What does King mean when he instructs the audience to

English
1 answer:
STatiana [176]3 years ago
3 0

When King said "physical strength with soul strength" he meant people not to use physical strength to achieve their goals, but to use soul strength to stay motivated.

This is connected with the idea that "undeserved suffering is redeeming", as it shows that with the strength of the soul, people can withstand the injustices that they alleviate until they manage to resolve them.

We can arrive at this answer because:

  • King was an activist and the greatest leader in the struggle for civil rights.
  • He encouraged a black offer to fight for their rights and not conform to the injustices they suffer.
  • He believed that these injustices would pay off in the future, but it would be necessary for people to fight for them to cease to exist.

However, he stated that this fight should be done with the strength of the soul, that is, with the strength of will and resilience, but that physical strength and violence should not be used.

Andrei [34K]

Answer:

Explanation:

According to a different source, this question refers to the text "Jackie Robinson's Experience in Florida."

In this text, we learn about the many instances of segregation and discrimination that Jackie Robinson had to tolerate throughout his career. In particular, we learn about Robinson's experiences in Florida. Although Robinson faced discrimination in many places, the author tells us that Daytona Beach was "an island of enlightenment in a sea of bigotry." This means that Daytona Beach was particularly accepting, even though the rest of the state was not.

I agree with this statement based on the text. The author provides some evidence to support this claim. We learn that Mary McLeod Bethune founded a school for African American girls in 1904, which later became Bethune-Cookman College. We also learn that this school influenced Black people in the town to fight for their rights. Moreover, city officials never threatened to cancel a Royals game, nor did they try to keep Robinson from playing.

Click to read the passage from "An Indian Father's Plea," by Medicine
Sonbull [250]

This question is incomplete, because the text was missing.

Here is the text.

Dear teacher, I would like to introduce you to my son, Wind-Wolf. [1] He is probably what you would consider a typical Indian kid. He was born and raised on a reservation. He has black hair, dark brown eyes, olive complexion. And like so many Indian children his age, he is shy and quiet in the classroom. He is 5 years old, in kindergarten, and I can't understand why you have already labeled him a "slow learner." At the age of 5, he has already been through quite an education compared with his peers in Western society. At his first introduction into this world, he was bonded to his mother and to the Mother Earth in a traditional native childbirth ceremony. And he has been continuously cared for by his mother, father, sisters, cousins, uncles, grandparents, and extended tribal family since this ceremony. — Lake, Medicine Grizzlybear. "An Indian Father's Plea" by Medicine Grizzlybear Lake (a/k/a Robert G. Lake-Thom) as appeared in Orion magazine, Autumn 1995. Reprinted by permission of the author.

The correct answer is C. Western society misjudges Native American practices.

Explanation

The text is a letter written by an Indian father who expresses the perception that Western society has about Native Americans and how this has affected his son, who has found it difficult to fit into the traditional teaching of American schools. Additionally, to reinforce his idea by saying that his 5-year-old son has been educated on the reservation by his community about other aspects of life, however, traditional American education had labeled him as "slow learner". According to the above, the correct answer is C. Western society misjudges Native American practices.
