Activity 5.1 Writing a descriptive paragraph advertise while playing 20 thum Imagine you visit a particular city for the first t
alex41 [277]

The descriptive paragraph about someone visiting a particular city for the first time is given below.

Descriptive paragraph-

Have you ever considered how the city feels?

Does it feel invaded or used by us?

The generosity of the city people is something to be admired, for sure, but have you ever looked at the city?

The as busy as a bee nature of the people, the loud horns of the cars, the  tirelessly working people, the ever-increasing pollution index- makes the city different from everything.

Is it so silly of me to believe that the city may be something more than just some dangerous place?

To rote how to survive or even just stay means nothing to me who would give in to the city; Yes, the city is polluted, but why should that matter if I'm not trying to breathe?

Read the excerpt from “A Genetics of Justice” Which statement best analyzes how the author develops the central idea across the
jonny [76]

Answer:

The correct answer is Alvarez explains that, although her parents reacted differently to the stress they endured, both became silent about the dictatorship.

Explanation:

This question is incomplete. Here are the excerpt and the options missing:

My mother, especially, lived in terror of the consequences of living as free citizens. In New York City, before Trujillo was killed, Dominican exiles gathered around the young revolutionary Juan Bosch planning an invasion of the Island. Every time my father attended these meetings, my mother would get hysterical. If the SIM found out about my father's activities, family members remaining behind were likely to be in danger. Even our own family in New York could suffer consequences. Five years earlier, in 1955, Galindez, an exile anti-Trujillo teaching at Columbia University, had disappeared from a New York subway. The same thing could happen to us.

I don't know if my father complied or just got too busy trying to make a living in this country. But after a few months of hotheaded attendance, he dropped out of these political activities and his silence deepened.

Which statement best analyzes how the author develops the central idea across the paragraphs?

Alvarez explains that her parents often disagreed about how to react to the dictatorship now that they were living in a free country

Alvarez explains how her father became heavily involved in anti-Trujillo activities, but soon became too busy to participate in them.

Alvarez explains how her mother eventually convinced her father to stop attending political meetings because of the danger.

Alvarez explains that, although her parents reacted differently to the stress they endured, both became silent about the dictatorship.

As the excerpt clearly says: <em>"his silence deepened." </em>

Alvarez tells the horrible things that happened because of the dictatorship, and even that he could happen to her parents and her family.

However, despite the stress of not knowing what would happen to their lives, both parents were silent about the dictatorship.
