Cells do not get larger to show that a baby has grown. Instead, they multiply through cell division.

What is growth?

Growth is an irreversible increase in the size and or weight of organisms.

The growth of living organisms is caused by the division of vegetative cells in their body.

Cell growth does occur for cells but this happens in preparation for cell division.

When the number of vegetative cells increases through cell division, an organism begins to increase in size accordingly.
