Find the area of the circle to the nearest whole number, if necessary!

Mathematics
1 answer:
astra-53 [7]2 years ago

Answer:

The circle has an area of about 1385 square mm.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's recall that circles have an area that can be found with the following formula:

A=\pi r^{2}

where r is the radius of the circle.

Now, focus your eyes on the circle. We are shown that the diameter of this circle is 42 mm, but we only want the radius. Since the radius is half the diameter, the radius is 21 mm. Now, we can solve for the area of the circle.

A=\pi (21)^2\\A=441\pi \\A=1385.44236...

So, to the nearest whole number, the area of the circle is 1385 square mm.

There are 5000 undergraduates registered at a certain college. Of them, 448 are taking one course, are taking two courses, 675 a
olga55 [171]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Hello!

There are some values missing, so I'll find the probability distribution using others as example. Afterwards you can calculate the ones corresponding to this exercise following the same steps.

Considering there are 5000 undergraduates registered in the college.

465 are taking one course

658 are taking two courses

566 are taking three courses

1877 are taking four courses

1344 are taking five courses

90 are taking six courses

First you have to define the variable of interest. To identify it you have to ask yourself the following question: what is the characteristic of this population that is being measured?

The answer is "the number of courses an undergraduate is taking" and this will be the study variable X

X can take values from 1 to 6 courses.

To calculate the probability of each value of X, you have to divide the "number of students taking Xi courses" by "total number of students registered in the college"

For

X=1

P(1)= 465/5000= 0.093

X=2

P(2)= 658/5000= 0.1316

X=3

P(3)= 566/5000= 0.1132

X=4

P(4)= 1877/5000= 0.3754

X=5

P(5)= 1344/5000= 0.2688

X=6

P(6)= 90/5000= 0.018

For this to be a probability distribution the following condition should be met:

F(X)= ∑P(X) = 1

In this example: 0.093 + 0.1316 + 0.1132 + 0.3754 + 0.2688 + 0.018 = 1

I hope this helps!

The 9th and the 12th term of an arithmetic progression are 50 and 65 respectively. find the common difference
Rzqust [24]

The first term of the arithmetic progression exists at 10 and the common difference is 2.

How to estimate the common difference of an arithmetic progression?

let the nth term be named x, and the value of the term y, then there exists a function y = ax + b this formula exists also utilized for straight lines.

We just require a and b. we already got two data points. we can just plug the known x/y pairs into the formula

The 9th and the 12th term of an arithmetic progression exist at 50 and 65 respectively.

9th term = 50

a + 8d = 50 ...............(1)

12th term = 65

a + 11d = 65 ...............(2)

subtract them, (2) - (1), we get

3d = 15

d = 5

If a + 8d = 50 then substitute the value of d = 5, we get

a + 8 * 5 = 50

a + 40 = 50

a = 50 - 40

a = 10.

Therefore, the first term is 10 and the common difference is 2.

I need the steps to this problem, please!
FinnZ [79.3K]
Hello Ashley!

This is an isosceles triangle. How do we know? Well, the two little bar they put means that it is isosceles. When you add all the angles together, you MUST find them equal to 180. Another you need to keep in mind is that the angle that are face to face with each other are ALWAYS equal.

Too much talking...we gonna solve the problem.

x + x + 72 = 180
2x + 72 = 180
2x = 180 - 72
2x = 108
x = 108/2
x= 54
That's the answer .

---------------------
What did we say earlier? We said that when we add all the angles together we MUST find them equal to 180. So, we gonna replace x by 54

54 + 54 + 72 = 180
180 = 180
So.. yes we got it right!

54 is the correct answer.

Good luck with your studies!
