The United States wanted to create a friendly government. The idea was to have a government that would work with the US as an ally. The island was be in control of the area in close proximity of the Asian countries. American ideals and American control was the basis for choosing to help the Philippines rebels.
Louis Pasteur had been working to find a vaccine that would cure cholera in chickens. His lab assistant gave an older, weaker strain of the disease to the birds. When these birds did not die Pasteur began to rethink his ideas a came up with our current method of administering vaccinations.
