What was Sherman's March?

This refers to the historical march which was undertaken by General William Sherman in the year 1864 when he advanced with some 60,000 strong soldiers to scare the Georgians to give up their Confederate cause.

Based on this historical march, Mrs LeConte believes that the Reconstruction of the South would be very difficult because of the destruction that was promised by William Sherman as he said that "not one house, he says, shall be left standing..."

How did African Americans experience discrimination in the South during the Jim Crow era? Use RACES to answer.
tia_tia [17]
Jim Crow laws were a collection of state and local statutes that legalized racial segregation. Named after a Black minstrel show character, the laws—which existed for about 100 years, from the post-Civil War era until 1968—were meant to marginalize African Americans by denying them the right to vote, hold jobs, get an education or other opportunities. Those who attempted to defy Jim Crow laws often faced arrest, fines, jail sentences, violence and death.
