Answer: The challenge was then taken by Martin Luther, a German priest. He raised a strong voice against the power abuse by the Church and the Pope. Many followed his footsteps soon and supported him in his endeavor. This proved to be the immediate cause of the Reformation.

However, because of a lack of railroads at the time all livestock and goods were transported by agriculturists and because of the vast geography of the prairie, there were many tough weather conditions to deal with. Native Americans were also settled on the land, so this caused conflict between the two groups as well.
