The organization defines corruption as the abuse of entrusted power for private gain which eventually hurts everyone who depends on the integrity of people in a position of authority. It develops tools for fighting corruption and works with other civil society organizations, companies and governments to implement them.Introduction. The Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) was first launched in 1995 by the Transparency International (TI). The goal of the CPI is to provide data on extensive perceptions of corruption within countries, and to enhance understanding of levels of corruption from one country to another.

Corruption in Nepal (Nepali: नेपालमा भ्रष्टाचार) is widespread and extends to every sector from the government to the judiciary, police, health services, and education. Nepal ranks at 117 in the Corruption Perceptions Index.Nepal ranks 117th among 180 countries and territories in the latest Corruption Perception Index. The country is behind Bhutan, India and Sri Lanka in South Asia.
