Answer:

Martin Luther King Jr. was shot on April 4, 1968, by James Earl Ray. The Memphis hotel he was shot in is now the location of the National Civil Rights Museum.

In the early 1940s, first lady Eleanor Roosevelt challenged the segregation rules at the Southern Conference on Human Welfare in Birmingham, Alabama, so she could sit next to African-American educator and activist Mary McLeod Bethune. Roosevelt would come to refer to Bethune as "her closest friend in her age group."

Martin Luther King Jr. skipped his freshman and junior years in high school and enrolled at Morehouse College when he was only 15 years of age in 1944. When he was 19, he received his bachelor’s degree in sociology.

None of the three men convicted of killing Malcolm X served life sentences for his assassination. Two of the men were released from prison in the 1980s, and Thomas Hagan was paroled in 2010.

Parks was sitting in the front row of a middle section of the bus open to African Americans if seats were vacant. After the “whites-only” section filled on subsequent stops and a white man was left standing, the driver demanded that Parks and three others in the row leave their seats. While the other three eventually moved, Parks did not.
