The Roosevelt Corollary was an addition to the Monroe Doctrine. It stated that no European countries were allowed to intervene in Latin American affairs. The only way that the U.S was allowed to become involved was if the affairs or European countries was threatened.
Article IV Section 4 of the United States Constitution does two things:
A) Guarantees every state within the US a republican form of government. In this case, a republican form of government is one in which the people choose their representatives to make laws for them.
B) Protects states against invasion- If one state was invaded by another country, the federal government would use the US military to protect them.
