A living thing is any organism that possess life as depicted by the exhibition of certain characteristics.

The characteristics of living organisms are as follows:

  1. Ability to reproduce i.e. make copies of itself
  2. Ability to respire
  3. Ability to respond to stimuli i.e. irritability
  4. Ability to increase in size i.e. growth
  5. Ability to excrete waste products.
