During world war 1,  The Great Britain was known as the best naval army in the world. Germany know that they cannot face the British naval army on the surface, so they invested in more submarines to help them sustain the attack from sea.

Germany use the submarines mainly to destroy ships that deliver supplies for allied countries in order to weakened them. Even though eventually Germany still lost, without submarine the allied forces would destroyed them even faster.

However, near the end of the dynasty, the rulers made Confucianism the national religion and banned all other religions. Many Buddhist monasteries and temples were shut down.
