Identify the rhetorical device most clearly used in each passage. In order to perform well in sports, you have to have strong mu

scles. Protein helps build strong muscles. Energy bars typically contain a high amount of protein. Therefore, companies are not being unethical by claiming that consuming their energy bars will enhance athletic performance. Consider a young person who wishes he had the athletic skill to make the track team, and spends his allowance on an energy bar each day in trying to make that dream come true. It is disappointing to know that some companies mislead impressionable consumers in this way.

Today, there is approximately 2,200 blue whales in the eastern North
Naya [18.7K]

The problem with this sentence is that there is no subject-verb agreement.

What is subject-verb agreement?

The subject-verb agreement implies the verb should agree with the subject on the number (singular vs plural). Here are some examples.

 • The girls are brave (both the subject and theverb are plural).
 • The girl is brave (both the subject and the verb are singular).

What is the problem in the sentence presented?

The sentence about whales does not show the subject-verb agreement. This is because in the section there is approximately 2,200 blue whales the author is using a singular verb is to refer to a plural subject 2,200 blue whales.

Note: This question is incomplete; here is the complete question:

What's wrong with this sentence: "Today there is approximately 2,200 blue whales in the eastern North Pacific and research indicates that the population hasn't changed significantly since 1993"

ankoles [38]

Which concept does Roosevelt most likely intend to convey in this sentence?

The answer is, Optimism is important to success.

When Roosevelt reinforces the fact that this nation will endure as it has endured, he does it to tell his people that no matter how it looks today our nation will prosper, no matter how bad it appears to be, this nation has always stood up. American Manifest Destiny, though it refers to expanding his lands by providential order, also gives Americans a providential pull, a lift up, that always takes them forward. Roosevelt is aware of this, but his people has forgotten it, and he reinforces this truth to lift up the moral of the American people.
