The Romans had historians. This meaning the Roman legacy went on in Europe for centuries, even long after the fall of the Roman Empire. The Incas had no writing that I know of but maybe it just was not deciphered. They were conquered by the Spanish (because they had better weapons such as guns).This meant much of their history was lost when the Spanish conquered the area.
