Answer: B. -4

When 2 equations equal the same thing (in this case y) we can just re-write the equations this way:

3x + 1 = 2x - 3

Now, just start picking off little numbers that we don’t really need to get the x alone. I don’t like working with negative numbers, so i’ll get rid of the -3 by adding 3 to it. Since anything you do on one side of an equal sign you have to do on the other, i’ll add 3 to 1, which looks like this:

3x + 1 = 2x - 3
+3 +3
3x + 4 = 2x

Now I need to get both x’s on the same side, so i’ll subtract 3x from 3x, then subtract 3x from 2x:

3x + 4 = 2x
-3x -3x
4= -x

Variables should never be negative, and they look complicated too, so in order to make x positive again i’ll swap it’s side with 4. While doing this, remember that swapping sides means you swap 4 to a negative too:

4 = -x
x= -4

And there’s the answer, X equals -4. If you wanted to solve for y, just plug in the x value (which is -4 in this case) to any one of the equations:

y= 3x + 1
y= 3(4) + 1
y= 12+ 1
y= 13

Hope this helped!

Answer:

A

Step-by-step explanation:

Since the angle that is touching each other shows that it is equal, the lines also show equality. So the number of lines in one of them is the same length in the other.

The least squares regression line minimizes the sum of the:
lorasvet [3.4K]

Answer:

d) Squared differences between actual and predicted Y values.

Step-by-step explanation:

Regression is called "least squares" regression line. The line takes the form = a + b*X where a and b are both constants. Value of Y and X is specific value of independent variable.Such formula could be used to generate values of given value X.

For example,

suppose a = 10 and b = 7. If X is 10, then  predicted value for Y of 45 (from 10 + 5*7). It turns out that with any two variables X and Y. In other words, there exists one formula that will produce the best, or most accurate predictions for Y given X. Any other equation would not fit as well and would predict Y with more error. That equation is called the least squares regression equation.

It minimize the squared difference between actual and predicted value.

Write the expression for when you translate the graph of y = |3x− 5| one unit to the right. Plzz help
AfilCa [17]

Answer:

2<x<4/3

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the equation of a graph to be y = |3x− 5|, if the equation is one unit to the right, this can be expressed as |3x-5| > 1.

Solving the resulting equation

|3x-5| > 1.

Since the function 3x-5 is in a modulus sign, this means that the function can take both negative and positive values.

For positive value of the function;

+(3x-5) > 1

3x > 1+5

3x>6

x>6/3

x>2 ... (1)

For the negative value of the function;

-(3x-5) > 1

On expansion

-3x+5 > 1

-3x > 1-5

-3x > -4

Multiplying through by -1 will also change the inequality sign

x < -4/-3

x < 4/3...(2)

Combining equation 1 and 2, we have;

2<x<4/3
