Answer:

6 miles

you can turn the problem into the equation

\frac{1.5}{2} = \frac{x}{8}

to get 2 to be 8 you need to multiply by 4 so you do the same to the top and get 6

Answer:

Uhh, I think the answer is b?

Step-by-step explanation:

if you look at the area d, it's kind of the same as 18 mm but it isn't. It's a few inches off the same inch as 18 mm, so it MIGHT be b.

The bottom of a 20-foot ladder is placed 4 ½ feet from the base of a house. To the nearest foot, at what height does the ladder
Oksanka [162]

Answer: 19 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

Hi, since the situation forms a right triangle (see attachment) we have to apply the Pythagorean Theorem:

c^2 = a^2 + b^2

Where c is the hypotenuse of the triangle (in this case the length of the ladder) and a and b are the other sides.

Replacing with the values given:

20^2 = (4 1/2)^2 + x^2

400=20.25 + x ^2

400-20.25 = x^2

379.75 = x^2

√379.75 = x

x = 19.48

x= 19 ft

Find the equation of the line.
Stells [14]

To find the equation of the line, we need to figure out the slope and y-intercept.

To find the y-intercept, look at the number where the line intersects the y-axis. The number is 5. The equation so far is y = ?x + 5.

We still didn't figure out the slope yet. To figure out the slope, pick two points. Use the rise over run method. It is in the image below. The line is going up to the left, so the slope will be negative. Now we know the slope is -1/3. The equation now that we figured out the slope is y = -1/3x + 5.

I hope this helps you! Let me know if I got something wrong.
