The legislative branch of the democratic system is divided between the House of Representatives and the Senate, which differ in the number of representatives and the election time of the representatives, but they share some functions.

What is the House of Representatives?

The House of Representatives is the name by which the lower house of Congress (legislative branch) is known. In the United States, the House of Representatives is made up of representatives from each state, the number of representatives depends on the amount of population of the states.

The representatives to the chamber are chosen by means of the vote of the citizens. The winners are those that get the most votes and in some cases (the states with the largest population) second rounds are held to choose them.

Another important aspect of the House of Representatives is that each representative is elected for a period of two years and can be re-elected.

What is the Senate?

The Senate is the name by which the upper house of Congress (legislative branch) is known. This has the function of creating and modifying the laws according to the needs of the citizens and the conjunctural moments that the nation experiences.

In the United States, each state has two senators who are elected for a six-year term with the option of re-election.

What are the differences between the House of Representatives and the Senate?

The House of Representatives

 • It is made up of 435 members representing all 50 states.
 • The seats are distributed among the states based on their population, each state must elect at least one position.
 • Representatives serve for two-year or biennium terms.

The Senate

 • The Senate is made up of 100 members, two representing each state
 • Senators serve for six-year terms, (the renewal is made interspersed with a third of the senators every two years).

Most of Japan is mountainous, therefore farming is...
myrzilka [38]

Answer:

Terrace

Explanation:

Geographically, about 73 per cent of Japan is mountainous. Japan also has plains in 27 per cent where most of the population is situated. Japan being an Island and mountainous region, did not have any natural resources. Japan relied on the importing raw materials from its neighbouring countries. Terrace farming helped humans in growing crops on sides of hills or mountains by planting on in the slope with prevented the erosion of soil. Rice (paddy) cultivation is common in Japan's mountainous fields as rice is the staple food of the country.
