As a result of Fargo and Seattle being in such different areas on the North American continent, they have different climates.

Why are their climates different?

Climate is a product of the environment and these two cities are in different environments.
Seattle is affected by the Pacific ocean while Fargo cannot be as affected as Seattle.
For this reason, they will experience different climates. It would be for instance, more likely that Seattle is cooler than Fargo because areas near the ocean are generally cooler than related areas that aren't.
It happens because the consuming is higher than the water drop rate, or even because there are too many people in a zone where there is not enough fresh water.
