The partition was the creation of two independent states, India and pakistan. The partition was made by Britain who shortly after withdrew from India. The partition was made to prevent religious conflict between Muslims and Hindus, with Muslims in Pakistan and Hindus in India. Mohammed Ali Jinnah is known as one of the people campaigning for the partition. He believed the partition was a necessary safeguard to the rights of muslims. He took part in negotiations with Britain for the partition to happen and later became the first Governor general of Pakistan and later died.

The India independence act was an act of Parliament that ended British rule in India and partitioned India into two independent countries. The partition was a result of the India Independence act and was approved and put into action into 1947.
