When applied to social work it enables us to gain a better understanding of environmental factors on individuals' endurance of stable relationships in society or social groups.

When we resist to change or endure the stable relationships , it is known as social inertia which is exact opposite of social change. We can conquer social inertia by identifying it and resolving it.
