The even worse-than-now corruption of the government, the conservative policies of Czar Nicholas II and the collateral damage Russia took in the First World War contributed to the general discontent and difficult financial situation. In February 1917, riots broke out in Petrograd because people were hungry! Even not the army believing in it anymore joined the rebels, Nicholas was forced to abdicate. Ar. That's the general idea.
