When we refer to cube, this means than all sides have the same measures because its faces are square in shape.

Since area of a square is equal to the square of its sides, the volume of the cube it creates is equal to the cube of its sides.

Regular volume = length * width * height
Volume of a cube = side * side * side = (side)³

Given: Volume = 256 cubic yards.

We just need to get the cube root of the volume.

side = ∛256

Get the factors of 256 that has a whole number as its cube root and get the cube root.

side = ∛(8 * 32)
side = ∛8 * ∛32
side = 2 * ∛(8 * 4)
side = 2 * ∛8 * ∛4
side = 2 * 2 * ∛4
side = 4 ∛4

Each side of the cube will measure 4 ∛4 yards or 6.35 yards.

To check:

(4 ∛4)³ → 4³ * (∛4)³ → 64 * 4 = 256
6.35³ = 256.05

Having the length of a side(noticed with l), the volume of the cube is equal to:
V = l*l*l
V=l^3
To find the numeric value of l: l = \sqrt[3]{V}

In our problem V = <span>256
l = </span>\sqrt[3]{256} =  \sqrt[3]{2^8} =  2^2\sqrt[3]{2^2}  = 4 \sqrt[3]{4}

Answer:

The answer is: <em><u>y = 9.25x </u></em>

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the equation for the proportionality relation is y = mx .......... (1), where y represents the money that Craig earns for a duty of x hours.

Here, m is the constant of proportionality and we have to find its value.

Given that Craig earns $37 for 4 hours duty.

So, from equation (1), we have 37 = 4m, ⇒ m = 9.25

Therefore, the equation becomes y = 9.25x. (Answer)

The endpoints of EF are E(2, 3) and F(8, 11). The midpoint of EF is M.<br> Find the length of EM.
Serga [27]

The midpoint of EF is M. The length of EM is 5

Given :

The endpoints of EF are E(2, 3) and F(8, 11).

M is the midpoint of EF

Lets find out the midpoint M using midpoint formula

(\frac{x_1+x_2}{2} ,\frac{y_1+y_2}{2} )\\E (x_1,y_1) is (2,3)\\F(x_2,y_2) is (8,11)

Substitute the values inside the formula

(\frac{x_1+x_2}{2} ,\frac{y_1+y_2}{2} )\\\\(\frac{2+8}{2} ,\frac{3+11}{2} )\\\\(5,7)

Midpoint M is (4,7)

Now to find out length of EM, we use distance formula

Distance = \sqrt{\left(x_2-x_1\right)^2+\left(y_2-y_1\right)^2}\\\mathrm{The\:distance\:between\:}\left(2,\:3\right)\mathrm{\:and\:}\left(5,\:7\right)\\\sqrt{\left(5-2\right)^2+\left(7-3\right)^2}\\\sqrt{3^2+4^2} \\\sqrt{25}\\5

So, length of EM= 5
