Answer:

  • y-intercept: 58
  • vertex: (2, 78) -- a maximum

Step-by-step explanation:

The negative leading coefficient tells you this parabola opens downward, so the vertex will be a maximum. The constant is the y-intercept, which is 58.

__

The vertex is nicely found using a graphing calculator, but can also be found algebraically. The x-value is ...

  x = -b/(2a) = -19.8/(2·(-4.9)) = 19.8/9.8 = 99/49 ≈ 2.02041

The value of f(99/49) is ...

  f(99/49) = (-4.9(99/49) +19.8)(99/49) +58 = (9.9)(99/49) +58 ≈ 78.002

The location of the vertex is approximately ...

  (x, y) ≈ (2.0204, 78.002) ≈ (2, 78)

How to solve and what is the answer
TiliK225 [7]
Two ways:
1) guess factors(trial and error)
2) use quadratic formula.
If you use this method then a = -3, b = -6 and c = -1

x = -b +/- [sqrt(b^2 -4ac)/2a]
substituting a, b, and c into our equation we get:
x = - (-6)+/- [sqrt ((-6)^2) - 4(-3)(-1))/2 (-3)]
x = + 6 +/- [sqrt (36 -4 (3)/-6)]  if I didnt make a mistake in my signs
x = + 6 +/- [sqrt (36 -12)/-6)]
x = 6 +/- [sqrt (24)/-6]  but sqrt 6 x sqrt of 4 = sqrt 24 hence
x = 6 +/-  [ sqrt 6 x sqrt 4 /-6] that is:
x = 6 +/- [sqrt 6 x 2 /-6 ]
so x = 6 + [sqrt 6 x 2/-6] and x = 6 - [sqrt 6 x 2/-6]

Step-by-step explanation:

Complete question is attached.

Answer:

a) ED = 6.5 cm

b) BE = 14.4 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

From the triangle, we are given the following dimensions:

AB = 20 cm

BC = 5 cm

CD = 18 cm

AE = 26 cm

We are asked to find length of sides ED and BE.

a) Find length of ED.

From the triangle Let's use the equation:

\frac{AB}{BC} = \frac{AE}{ED}BCAB=EDAE

Cross multiplying, we have:

AB * ED = AE * BC

From this equation, let's make ED subject of the formula.

ED = \frac{AE * BC}{AB}ED=ABAE∗BC

Let's substitute figures,

ED = \frac{26 * 5}{20}ED=2026∗5

ED = \frac{130}{20} = 6.5ED=20130=6.5

Therefore, length of ED is 6.5 cm.

b) To find length of BE, let's use the equation:

\frac{AB}{AC} = \frac{BE}{CD}ACAB=CDBE

Cross multiplying, we have:

AB * CD = AC * BE

Let's make BE subject of the formula,

BE = \frac{AB * CD}{AC}BE=ACAB∗CD

From the triangle, length AC = AB + BC.

AC = 20 + 5 = 25

Substituting figures, we have:

BE = \frac{20 * 18}{25}BE=2520∗18

BE = \frac{360}{25} = 14.4BE=25360=14.4

Therefore, length Of BE is 14.4cm

What is the solution to this system of equations, and what does it mean to the contractor? The solution (0, 20) tells the contra
oksano4ka [1.4K]

The question is incomplete. Here is the complete question:

A contractor has two choices for billing a completed job.

· $500 flat rate, regardless of the number of hours worked

· $20 per hour worked

The graph shows the relationship between pay per hour and number of hours worked for both scenarios.

What is the solution to this system of equations, and what does it mean to the contractor?

A.The solution (0, 20) tells the contractor the minimum amount that can be charged.

B.The solution (0, 500) tells the contractor the maximum amount that can be charged.

C.The solution (25, 20) tells the contractor the number of hours on a job where the hourly rate is the same for both billing options.

D.The solution (20, 25) tells the contractor the number of hours on a job where the hourly rate is the same for both billing options.

Answer:

The graph is attached below.

C.The solution (25, 20) tells the contractor the number of hours on a job where the hourly rate is the same for both billing options.

Step-by-step explanation:

As per the graph, the x-axis represents the number of hours worked and the y-axis represents the rate in dollars per hour.

The hourly rate is given as $20.

The solution to the given lines drawn on the graph is the point of intersection of the two curves.

As we observe from the graph, the point of intersection of the two curves is at (25,20). The point tells the contractor that when the hourly rate is $20, then the number of hours worked will be 25.

So, when the hourly rate is same for both the billings, then the number of hours worked will be 25.

Hence, the correct option is (C).
