It is only DNA which contains sugar deoxyribose, has primary function storing, transferring genetic information and double-stranded. RNA it only directs code for amino acid which contains the uracil base and it is found throughout the cell.
Both the DNA and RNA are polymers which are made up of nucleotides and contains the adenine base.

  • DNA only: It has two helical chains, it has deoxyribose sugar, it has the nitrogenous base Thymine, it is a very stable molecule, it originates from replication, it is very resistant to hydrolysis, it is self-replicating, it is synchronized in the cell nucleus.
  • Only RNA: It has a single chain has a nitrogenous base Uracil, has ribose sugar is unstable, originates in the transcript, it is not very resistant to hydrolysis, may appear in three forms (mRNA, tRNA and rRNA) can found in the cytoplasm or ribosome, is not self-replicating and is synthesized from DNA.
  • Both DNA and RNA: Both are nucleic acids, both have hundreds of nucleotides, both are found in the nucleus of cells, both have nitrogenous bases Adenine, Cytosine and Guanine.

DNA and RNA are nucleic acids found in virtually every human cell. They are responsible for the transmission of hereditary characters and the production of compound proteins, which are the main constituent of living things.
