Do microorganisms cause asymptomatic infections or disease?
weeeeeb [17]
Microorganisms that are capable of causing disease are called pathogens. Although microorganisms that cause disease often receive the most attention, it is important to note that most microorganisms do not cause disease. In fact, many probably provide some protection against harmful microorganisms because they effectively compete with the harmful organisms for resources, preventing them from growing.

Why is the structure of dna called a double helix?
jeka57 [31]
The structure of DNA is called a double helix because DNA is made up of two strands of nucleotides wound together in a spiral.

DNA has two strands that run opposite of each other and twist together much like a twisted ladder. Each backbone of the ladder is made up of alternating groups of sugar and phosphate groups.

A child is prescribed hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for severe combined immunodeficiency disease. what is administered
mezya [45]
The child is administered to use Intravenous immunoglobulin and Pneumocystis caranii pneumonia or PCP prophylaxis. These are used to improve humoral immunity in the child until the time when the transplant is performed.
The child is not recommended to use influenza vaccine in immunodeficiency disease reason being the possibility of acquiring influenza which is severe.
Again the child is not recommended to use varicella vaccine because it can lead to a risk of acquiring chicken pox.
For a child with PCP, we use Dapsone.
