Hey there!

-589 + ? + 90 + (-1) = 0

CONVERT the EQUATION

-589 + x + 90 - 1 = 0

COMBINE the LIKE TERMS

x - (-589 + 90 - 1) = 0

x - 589 + 90 - 1 = 0

x - 499 - 1 = 0

x - 500 = 0

ADD 500 to BOTH SIDES

x - 500 + 500 = 0 + 500

CANCEL out: -500 + 500 because it give you 1

KEEP: 0 + 500 because it give you the x-value

NEW EQUATION: x = 0 + 500

SIMPLIFY IT!

x = 500

Therefore, your answer is: 500

Good luck on your assignment & enjoy your day!

the insurance company pays the forecast of 3900 prescriptions claims out of 4500 prescription claims submitted what is the rate
nadya68 [22]

Answer:

x=0.87  or   86.67%

13 prescription claims out of 15 are paid

Step-by-step explanation:

First we organize the data:

prescription claims submitted: 4500

Prescriptions: 3900

The rate of claims paid is calculated using the following formula:

x =\frac{Paid}{Total}

We know that:

Paid = 3900

Total = 4500

So

x =\frac{3900}{4500}

x =\frac{39}{45}

x =\frac{13}{15}

x=0.87

Given
- f(n) values for n=1,2,3,4
- possible candidates for the function

Solution:
Method: Evaluate some of the values, for each function.  A function with ANY value not matching the given f(n) values will be rejected.

N=1, f(n)=4
f(1)=4-3(1-1)=4
f(1)=4+3^(1+1)=4+3^2=4+9=13 ≠ 4   [rejected]
f(1)=4(3^(n-1))=4(3^0)=4
f(1)=3(4^(n-1))=3(4^0)=3*1=3  [rejected]

N=2, f(n)=12
f(1)=4-3(2-1)=4-3(1)=1 ≠ 12   [rejected]
[rejected]
f(1)=4(3^(2-1)=4*3^1=4*3=12
[rejected]

Will need to check one more to be sure
N=3, f(n)=3
[rejected]
[rejected]
f(3)=4(3^(n-1))=4(3^(3-1))=4(3^2)=4*9=36   [Good]
[rejected]

Solution: f(n)=4(3^(n-1))
