Problem 1

Draw a straight line and plot P anywhere on it. Use the compass to trace out a faint circle of radius 8 cm with center P. This circle crosses the previous line at point Q.

Repeat these steps to set up another circle centered at Q and keep the radius the same. The two circles cross at two locations. Let's mark one of those locations point X. From here, we could connect points X, P, Q to form an equilateral triangle. However, we only want the 60 degree angle from it.

With P as the center, draw another circle with radius 7.5 cm. This circle will cross the ray PX at location R.

Refer to the diagram below.

Problem 2

I'm not sure why your teacher wants you to use a compass and straightedge to construct an 80 degree angle. Such a task is not possible. The proof is lengthy but look up the term "constructible angles" and you'll find that only angles of the form 3n are possible to make with compass/straight edge.

In other words, you can only do multiples of 3. Unfortunately 80 is not a multiple of 3. I used GeoGebra to create the image below, as well as problem 1.

Answer:
Choice A
1/17; no, they are dependent events

============================================

Explanation:

There are 13 spades and 52 cards total. So 13/52 = 1/4 is the probability of drawing one spade

If we do not replace the card we pull out, then the probability of another spade is 12/51 since there are 12 spades left out of 51 total.

Multiply the fractions 1/4 and 12/51 to get
(1/4)*(12/51) = (1*12)/(4*51) = 12/204 = 1/17

The two events are not independent because the second event (pulling out a second spade) depends entirely on what happens in the first event (pulling out a first spade). The fact that the probability is altered indicates we have dependent events.

The diameter of the Sun is about 1.4 x 10 to the 6th power km. The diameter of Earth is about 13,000 km.
RUDIKE [14]

Answer:

The ratio between them is approximately 1.08*10^2, therefore the correct answer is A.

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to calculate the ratio of the diameter of the Sun to the diameter of the Earth we will first represent the Earth's diameter as a scientific notation, to do this we will add one to the power of ten for every time the comma walks to the left until there's only one number to the left. This is done to make the division easier,

d_{earth} = 1.3*10^4\text{ km}

The ratio is given by the Sun's diameter divided by the Earth's, as shown below:

\text{ratio} = \frac{d_{sun}}{d_{earth}}\\\\\text{ratio}= \frac{1.4*10^6}{1.3*10^4} = 1.08*10^2

The ratio between them is approximately 1.08*10^2, therefore the correct answer is A.
