Watermelons and pineapples seem quite different when you first think about them and some factors do, but they are similar in many different ways. First, they are both fruits and they both contain juice which makes them the perfect thing to put in smoothies or on top of desserts. Secondly, they both have an ‘outer shell’ of sorts that helps protect the inside. Both have bright colors on the inside and darker colors on the outside. Additionally, both are refreshing and could help people cool down in the heat.
Many things make the two fruits different too. A watermelon covering is smooth and bright shades of green and the inside is a dark pale shade of pink, while a pineapple’s covering is a brown color, and it is rough and pointed in places and has a bright yellow interior. Watermelon is also heavier than a pineapple is, and it is cut in a separate way than a pineapple would be cut. While watermelons naturally have seeds in them, pineapples do not have seeds unless they are grown next to each other. Pineapple contains more Vitamin C than watermelons, but watermelon contains more Vitamin A. Watermelons are also messier because they contain more juice.

The fact that Khalil was unarmed and did not threaten the officer makes his murder unjust. The police are unjust at other points, too, such as when they force Maverick to the ground and pat him down. Race is tied into this theme of injustice as well, since pervasive racism prevents African-Americans from obtaining justice. Starr and Maverick in particular are focused on bringing justice not only for Khalil but also for African-Americans and other oppressed groups, such as the poor. The activist group that Starr joins is called Just Us for Justice because it fights against police maltreatment on the basis of race. At the end of the novel, Starr accepts that injustice might continue but reinforces her determination to fight against it.
Atticus Finch and Boo Radley. These men to me are considered mockingbirds. When thinking of mockingbirds I get a sense of innocence. Atticus is above all the other adults around him and he is kindly defending and respecting Boo as he does everyone else. Boo Radley is also a mockingbird because he was wrongly accused of sexual assault even though knowing his character he didn’t do it. His testimony was very powerful and eye opening.
