Visit this online dictionary and examine the definition of flatter. Based on the definition, why is flatter not the best word in

the sentence below? "I have always admired the work of the children who fought for civil rights in the 1950s and 1960s, so I wanted to write a poem that would flatter them. " It is too formal and fancy for such a simple and casual sentence as this one. It does not show that the writer is giving enough praise to the children. It is not a word that should be used to describe children. It does not mean to thank in a way that an admirer would thank someone.

An online dictionary is one that is available on the internet, often known as the World Wide Web (WWW), and maybe viewed via a web browser on a computer or mobile device.

Option (d) or the (last) option is the correct answer.

Why isn't flatter the better term to use?

The term "flatter" relates to false praise or the act of bestowing praise on someone who does not merit it since he has nothing to commend.

As a result, the term "flatter" in the statement in the question is inaccurate.

This is because the sentence's narrator desires to commend the youngsters who battled for civil rights, and the narrator believes that these children are deserving of recognition for their great behavior.
