Equation 1)  2x - 6y = 5
Equation 2)  x + y = 2

Multiply all of equation 2 by 2.

2)   2(x + y = 2)

2)  2x + 2y = 4
1)  2x - 6y = 5

Subtract equations from one another.

8y = -1

Divide both sides by 8.

y = -1/8

Plug in -1/8 for x in the first equation.

2x - 6y = 5

2x - 6(-1/8) = 5

Simplify.

2x + 3/4 = 5

Subtract 3/4 from both sides.

2x = 5 - 3/4

Simplify.

2x = 4 1/4

Divide both sides by 2.

x = 17/8 OR 2 1/8

~Hope I helped!~

(17/8, -1/8) or if you want it in decimals  (2.125, -0.125)

2x-6y=5
x+y=2      y=2-x
2x-6(2-x)=5
2x-12+6=5
8x-12=5
8x=17
x=17/8

(17/8)+y=2   You plug in the x-value to find the y-value now
y=2-17/8
y=-1/8

If a2= 18 and a4= 8, find two possible common ratios. Then, write two sequences lhaving five terms each.
Marizza181 [45]

common ratio = a4/a3 = a3/a2

8/a3 = a3/18

(a3)^2 = 8 * 18

(a3)^2 = 144

a3 = 12 or a3 = -12

common ratio = 8/12 or common ratio = 8/(-12)

common ratio = 2/3 or common ratio = -2/3

Answer: 12 or -12

Answer:

You are given a right triangle. The sum of the two acute angles should add up to 90 degrees. Set up an equation using the expressions given and solve for x. Once you know the value of x plug it back into each expression to find the measure for each angle.

Step-by-step explanation:

Angle 1 + angle 2 = 90

solve for x = ____

Plug the value into each expression to find the measure of each angle.
