240 is correct
if you split the shapes into a triangle and a rectangle you can figure out the area
the area of the rectangle is 192
the area of the triangle is 48
add the rectangle and triangle and you get 240

Answer:

Let's find the area of the rectangle below since we are given lengths.

Formula for area of a rectangle:

a = w * l, where "w" is the width and "l" is the length

The width is 24 and the length is 8 yards, so let's multiply those;

a = 24 x 8

a = <u>192</u> square yards

Now that we have found one of the areas, let's find the triangle above.

Though we are not given the base of the triangle, we can find the triangle's base by <em>adding the other two side lengths beside it </em>and subtract it by the total width.

The other two side lengths are 6 and 6, the total width is 24 as shown under the rectangle.

So we add the two side lengths (6 + 6) = 12, and subtract it from it's total, 24, (24 - 12) =<em> 12</em>

Now that we have found the base of the triangle, we must find the height of the triangle (the dotted line that runs vertically through the triangle).

The height of the rectangle is 8, the total of the dotted line that runs through both the triangle and the rectangle is 16.

Now we just subtract 8 from the total of the dotted line to get our height of the triangle, (16 - 8) = <em>8</em>, finally we can find the area of the triangle.

Formula for area of triangle;

A = BH x 1/2, where "b" is the base and "h" is the height.

Replace b and h:

A = 12(8) x 1/2

A = 96 x 1/2

A = 96/2

A = <u>48</u> square yards

Since we found the area of the two shapes, we must add them to get the total area.

Area of rectangle: 192

Area of triangle: 48

We add;

192 + 48 = 240 square yards, is your answer.

stich3 [128]

Answer:

11 \frac{3}{4} min

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to solve this problem, we must subtract the times he has already used from the time he has available, so we get:

30-11 \frac{3}{4} - 6 \frac{1}{2}

we can start solving this subtraction by turning all of the numbers into improper fractions so we get:

\frac{30}{1}-\frac{11*4+3}{4}- \frac{6*2+1}{2}

\frac{30}{1}-\frac{47}{4}- \frac{13}{2}

next, we can find a least common denominator. In this case it will be 4, so we need to turn all denominators into a 4, so we get:

\frac{30*4}{1*4}-\frac{47}{4}- \frac{13*2}{2*2}

\frac{120}{4}-\frac{47}{4}- \frac{26}{4}

and now we can subtract the numerators and copy the denominators so we get:

\frac{120-47-26}{4}

\frac{47}{4}

which can now be turned into a mixed number by dividing 47/4 which yields 11 with a remainder of 3, so the mixed number is:

11 \frac{3}{4} min

and this is the amount of time he has available to solve the las problem.

Nady [450]

Step-by-step explanation:

1. draw the parallelogram with side 20cm and 25cm respectively and also the diagonal as well.

2.Clearly it forms a triangle in the parallelogram with three known lengths of side.

3.Using the cosine rule : c^2=b^2+c^2 -2bc cos c to find the obtuse angle.
