How did Southerners react to slave revolts?
shtirl [24]
Many Southerners feared slave revolts and actively sought to prevent them by separating families and splitting up bonds. This fear stemmed from the fact that in many places throughout the South, slaves outnumbered free people and thus a revolt would not only destroy the economy (which relied on slave labor), but could also result in violence.
