When the telephone was first invented, it had a profound impact on communications. Technology has had a profound impact particul

arly over the last two centuries. Ironically, there is concern that the options for communication and electronic devices have actually resulted in less communication. The nature of social media makes it possible for people to communicate anonymously, which can lead to online abuse and bullying. It does seem sad that even though we have so many forms of communication, some people still feel so alone.
