A right rectangular prism has a length of 12 ft, width of 5/12 ft, and height of 10 1/12 ft.What is the volume of the prism?
Mazyrski [523]
Mult. these 3 dimensions together to obtain the volume of the prism:

(12 ft)(5/12 ft)(10 1/12 ft). Expressing all of these factors as improper fractions, we get:

  12 5 121 5(121) ft^3
------ * ------ * -------- = ----------------- = 50.42 ft^3 = volume of the prism

Explain why the columns of an nxn matrix a are linearly independent when a is invertible
jasenka [17]
Suppose A is invertible. Therefore the equation Ax=0 has only one solution, the zero solution. This means that the columns of A are linearly independent.

Who walks at a faster rate: someone who walks 60 feet in 10 seconds or someone who takes 5 seconds to walk 25 feet?
harkovskaia [24]

Well, I don't know.
Let's figure it out together.
The best way to do that is to compare their unit rates:

The first woman's unit rate is (60 ft / 10 sec)

                                             = (60 / 10) (ft/sec) = 6 ft/sec .

The second woman's unit rate is (25 ft / 5 sec)

                                                = (25 / 5) (ft/sec) = 5 ft/sec .

Now we can see that the first woman walks 1 ft/sec faster
than the second one does.
