Devon studied the composite figure. A rectangular prism with length of 20, width of 34, and height of 9. A triangular prism with

triangular sides with a base of 20 and height of 24. The rectangular sides have a length of 34 and height of 26. He believed the surface area, in square units, could be found by simplifying the expression 2 ((9) (20)) + 2 ((9) (34)) + (34) (20) + 2 (one-half (20) (24)) + 2 (one-half (34) (26)). What error did Devon make? He used 26 instead of 24 as the slant height of one set of lateral faces. He omitted the rectangle where the upper and lower solids join together. He included the 34 by 20 base of the figure. He believed the upper part of the figure was a pyramid instead of a prism.

Write a two column proof
Annette [7]

4y=2x-10 and y=6

use the second expression to calculate the left-hand side of the first equation:

4\cdot 6 = 2x -10\\24 = 2x -10

Add 10 to both sides if this equation to get

34 = 2x

and divide both sides by 2

17 = x

this proves that x = 17, give the two initial equations

A restaurant earns $10 for each hour worked up to 40 hours each week and 15 for each additional hour worked over 40 hours. If x
makvit [3.9K]

Answer:

f(x) = 15x - 200

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Earnings = \$10 per hour for 40 hours, weekly

Additional\ Hour = \$15 per hour over 40 hours, weekly

Required

Determine f(x)

From the question, we have that

x represents hours worked

Earnings in 40 hours is: 40 * 10 = $400

Hours over 40 will be: x - 40

So, earnings during this time will be: (x - 40) * 15

Total earnings is:

f(x) = 400 + (x - 40) * 15

f(x) = 400 + 15x - 600

f(x) = 15x - 600 + 400

f(x) = 15x - 200

A piece of land is to be fenced and subdivided as shown to that each rectangle has the same dimensions. Express the total amount
nlexa [21]
There are 3 rectangles.

In the plane, each rectangle has 2x + 7 horizontal side.

The fence covers 3 horizontal sides => 3 (2x + 7)

In the plane, the vertical sideis x. And the fence covers 4 vertical sides => 4x

Then the total amount of fecncin is: 3(2x+7) + 4x = 6x + 21 + 4x = 10x + 21

Answer: 10x + 21
