Devon studied the composite figure. A rectangular prism with length of 20, width of 34, and height of 9. A triangular prism with

triangular sides with a base of 20 and height of 24. The rectangular sides have a length of 34 and height of 26. He believed the surface area, in square units, could be found by simplifying the expression 2 ((9) (20)) + 2 ((9) (34)) + (34) (20) + 2 (one-half (20) (24)) + 2 (one-half (34) (26)). What error did Devon make? He used 26 instead of 24 as the slant height of one set of lateral faces. He omitted the rectangle where the upper and lower solids join together. He included the 34 by 20 base of the figure. He believed the upper part of the figure was a pyramid instead of a prism.

Find the surface area of the tin game case
butalik [34]
To find the surface area you will need to find the area of all 5 surfaces (faces) on the prism.  On a triangular prism there are 2 triangular faces and 3 rectangular faces.  All 3 rectangular faces are the same and the 2 triangular faces are also the same.

To find the area of the triangular faces, you will use the formula for finding the area of a triangle:

A = 1/2bh
     1/2 x 10 x 8.7
A = 43.5 in^2

To find the area of the rectangular faces, you will use the formula for finding the area of a rectangle:

A = bh
    10 x 3
A = 30 in ^2

30 + 30 + 30 + 43.5 + 43.5 = 177

The minimum amount of wrapping paper needed for the gift is 177 square inches.

the volume of a triangular prism is 42 cubic centimeters. what is the volume of a similar prism that is twice as large as large
Dmitriy789 [7]

Answer:

The volume of the similar prism is 336\ cm^{3}

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

If two figures are similar, then the ratio of its volumes is equal to the scale factor elevated to the cube

Let

z-----> the scale factor

x----> the volume of the larger prism

y----> the volume of the smaller prism

so

z^{3}=\frac{x}{y}

In this problem we have

z=2 -----> the scale factor

y=42\ cm^{3}

substitute and solve for x

x=42(2^{3})=336\ cm^{3}
