lim \:  \frac{f(x)}{x}  =  \frac{x(1 -  \frac{4}{x})(x - 2) {}^{2}  }{x}  \\ x -  >  \infty

lim \:  \frac{f(x)}{x}  = (1)( \infty  - 2) {}^{2}  \\ x -  >  \infty

lim \:  \frac{f(x)}{x}  =  \infty \\ x -  >  \infty

We can then say that the function f(x)=(x-4)(x-2)² admits an asymptotic direction parallel to the y-axis at +∞ and -∞ as well since we have to follow the same steps.

I assume you mean 4(3^x) as in this is an exponential function.

The average rate of change is simply the change in y divided by the change in x so:

(4(3^2-3^1))/(2-1)

4(9-3)

So the average rate from 3 to 4 is 216 and from 1 to 2 is only 24.
