Answer:

<h3>Mary had $1,120</h3>

Step-by-step explanation:

<em>L</em><em>et the </em><em>a</em><em>mount mary and jane </em><em>h</em><em>ad be 2x </em><em>and</em><em> x respectively.</em>

<em>L</em><em>et </em><em>t</em><em>he equal amount be </em><em>y:</em>

<em>mary \: (y = 2x - 800) \\ jane \: (y = x - 240)</em>

<em>Using </em><em>the </em><em>simultaneous </em><em>equation </em><em>method</em><em>,</em><em> </em><em>m</em><em>ultiply</em><em> the first equation by the coefficient of </em><em>x(</em><em>1</em><em>)</em><em> of the second equation and the second equation by the coefficient of x</em><em>(</em><em>2</em><em>)</em><em> </em><em>of the first equation</em><em>:</em>

<em>y = 2x - 800 \\ 2y = 2x - 480</em>

<em>Subtract </em><em>the </em><em>second </em><em>equation </em><em>from </em><em>the </em><em>first </em><em>equation</em><em>:</em>

<em>- y =  - 320 \\ y = 320</em>

<em>$</em><em>3</em><em>2</em><em>0</em><em> </em><em>was </em><em>their</em><em> </em><em>equal</em><em> </em><em>amount</em><em>.</em>

<em>Substitute </em><em>3</em><em>2</em><em>0</em><em> </em><em>for </em><em>y </em><em>in </em><em>any </em><em>equation</em><em>:</em>

<em>y =  x - 240 \\ 320 = x - 240 \\ x = 320 + 240 \\ x = 560 \\  \\ 2x = 1120</em>

<em>Therefore</em><em>,</em><em> </em><em>Jane </em><em>had </em><em>$</em><em>5</em><em>6</em><em>0</em><em> </em><em>at </em><em>first </em><em>and </em><em>Mary </em><em>had </em><em>$</em><em>1</em><em>1</em><em>2</em><em>0</em><em> </em><em>at </em><em>first</em><em>.</em>

Answer:

Mary has $1120

Step-by-step explanation:

money mary has at first : x

money jane has at first : y

Mary brought twice as much money as Jane : x=2y

Mary had spent $800 and Jane had spent $240, they had equal amount of money left : x-800=y-240

=> \left \{ {{x=2y} \atop {x-800=y-240}} \right.

=> x=1120

y=560

How do you solve logarithmic equations such as log(2x)= -1 or 3log(2)+log(x)= 3?
Aliun [14]
Remember some simle log rules
loga+logb=log(ab)
xloga=loga^x
log_ax=y means a^y=x
also, if no base is stated, assume base 10

so

log(2x)=-1 is base 10 and translates to
10^-1=2x
1/10=2x
divide both sides by 2 aka times 1/2
1/20=x

3log(2)+log(x)=3
log(2^3)+log(x)=3
log(8)+log(x)=3
log(8x)=3
base 10
10^3=8x
1000=8x
divide both sides by 8
x=125

I need help with this problem
Dmitriy789 [7]

Answer:

<h2>h = 15</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula of an area of a parallelogram:

A=bh

b - side

h - height

We have b₁ = 18 and h₁ 10 and b₂ = 12.

b_1h_1=b_2h

Substitute:

12h=(18)(10)

12h=180            <em>divide both sides by 12</em>

h=15
