After 1900, many countries pursued their independence through revolutions and armed conflicts.

This is due to the fact that the countries wanted their autonomy and the freedom to rule their own lands.

Most of the people that they wanted to be independent from were the European colonizers. Most of the countries here were from Asia and Africa.

After the second world war, most of the colonizing countries in Europe had become so weak.

In the Middle Ages, the Church provided for the religious aspects of people's lives – baptism of babies, marriages, confession, the last rites for the dying and burying the dead.
